About This Operation
JPG compression can substantially reduce photographs and other detailed images, but smaller files trade some fine visual detail for fewer bytes.
Balanced is recommended for most photos. Already-efficient JPGs may not produce a smaller downloadable copy, and unsuccessful compression does not use conversion allowance.
To compress JPEG for a form or photo-upload limit, choose Maximum File Size and enter a cap in KB or MB. The converter seeks the highest practical quality under that cap when achievable, with original dimensions unchanged by default. If it cannot fit, you decide whether to change the cap, dimensions or format.
Accepts validated still JPG and JPEG files; renamed or animated content is rejected.
Produces JPG output with the original dimensions unless resize is selected.
Simple Workflow
Choose one or more JPG or JPEG photographs.
Select Light, Balanced or Maximum compression, or enter a Maximum File Size in KB or MB. Keep Original Dimensions unless you want to resize pixels.
Reduce file size, compare each original and completed size, then download or share the smaller JPG.
Useful Details
JPG is lossy: Light prioritizes visual quality, Balanced is recommended, and Maximum prioritizes a smaller file.
Transparency behavior follows the selected source and output formats.
Animated image editing is not supported; still-image validation remains authoritative.
Embedded metadata is removed by default; compatible preservation remains optional.
Built Around Your Files and Privacy
Convert It checks uploaded files against the expected format before processing so invalid or unsupported files can be stopped early.
You keep your rights to the files you upload and the converted files you create. Only upload content you have permission to use.
Source files are handled in private temporary storage, while converted files follow the retention period for your visitor or account level.
